Barring a raw diet from this discussion, does anyone have any opinions on the fact that... Simon seems to have trouble with his food. But when he got sick in Feb and the vet gave us low residue Iams, he got much better. Is low residue a good option? can that be bought at a store or do I have to get it from a vet? etc etc

I have to admit that I know nothing about low-residue kibble. But I have read that Iams quality isn't what it once was. Since so many good brands sell smaller sample bags now, perhaps you can "audition" a couple of different things?

Sorry, re-reading your post. If the Iams is working for him, why switch? Very likely you can find cheaper elsewhere, even on-line.

Farley is just finishing up a bag of Iams low residue food after his surgery. Sometimes you just have to use what works for your dog. It might not be the norm but if it works for Simon, that's what counts.
