I have to write this down before I forget…we went to pick up some chicken and had Hoshi in the car. He was sitting on my mom’s lap and I was driving. Just as I roll down my window to pay, Hoshi decides to leap into the drive thru window. I caught him in before he jumped. I was surprised he actually thought he could do that. Everyone thought it was funny including the gal at the window (thankfully).

Hoshi had a bath for itchies
Hoshi has needed a bath desperately. That long hair of his is like a magnet for every twig and branch in the neighborhood and the salt from the sidewalks was making his hair all tacky. I used Epi-Soothe shampoo and cream rinse for his bath tonight. He has been scratching more than usual and we think the cats had fleas. I’ve already Frontlined them and my mom’s dog. I’ll Frontline Hoshi tonight. I’m hoping his scratching will stop.
Hoshi scared by neighborhood dog
There’s a small mutt who lives on the other side of our block. He chased Hoshi last night and scared him. It’s some type of Jack Russell mix about 35 pounds. I’ve seen the mutt before. He has a habit of jumping over his chain link fence and wandering the neighborhood. He came after Gabby before but seemed intimidated by Gabby. Gabby was much more muscular than Hoshi. Anyways, we were walking past this mutt’s house when he jumped the fence and went after Hoshi. I wasn’t sure what would happen and did nothing at first. Unfortunately, that mutt tried to bite Hoshi taking a mouthful of Hoshi’s fur. Hoshi yelped in terror as the mutt kept after him. I frightened the mutt off and he jumped over the fence into his back yard. I’m really not worried of the mutt harming Hoshi. I just don’t want him spooking Hoshi again. I’ll be ready next time and won’t let that mutt near Hoshi again.
Hoshi’s a lover not a fighter.
Hoshi’s ear sore
I mentioned in my last blog I found a reddened bump on the inside of Hoshi’s ear. I took Hoshi to the vet today and she thinks it’s a histiocytoma. She checked the cells under a microscope with a slide smear and needle aspiration and said she found round cells which suggests a histiocytoma. It doesn’t seem to bother Hoshi unless I’m trying to clean it. I put peroxide on it this morning and he acted like it hurt. She said they can resolve on their own. If not, they would remove it. Hoshi went home with a 14 day supply of Keflex 250mg 3x daily.
Hoshi is loved at the vet. 🙂 They think he’s cute. I sent them a Christmas card. One tech really spent a lot of time with him. He likes to roll over for belly rubs. She grew up with cockers. She asked where I got him from. I said Gina. She liked his haircut too. She said it was a real cocker cut. I told her Gina trimmed him as well.
Bath Time
I gave Hoshi a bath late tonight–he needed one. I was really pleased how his hair looked after conditioner. It usually poofs up. It laid down nicely this time. I found a red swollen bump inside his left ear flap towards the base. It’s a little smaller than a pea and very reddened. Looks like he’s been scratching it. I’m not sure if it’s a tumor or infection. I’m going to put some of Gabby’s Animax cream and see if looks better otherwise I’ll take him to the vet.
After Hoshi’s bath I took him outside to potty. It was snowing and he went nuts running through the snow. It’s the first snow so far this fall. He’s sleeping right now.
