Gloria Marriott (A.K.A. Linda Snow, Mary Howard) was offered a plea bargain of nine months in jail in return for having her bond reduced from $250,000 to $49,000 dollars.  Charges stem from an animal cruelty case when she was arrested February 18, 2011.  Police became suspicious when overpowered by the smell of feces and urine then discovered five dogs in neglectful states some with matted fur, all without food or water.  Marriott faces five counts of animal cruelty and running a puppy mill from her Mystic, Connecticut home. Regardless of her plea bargain she will remain jailed for violating probation in Massachusetts where she was convicted of animal cruelty–over 100 sick dogs were found on her property.  Marriott runs the Web site conneticutcockapoos.com with the tagline “Breeding For Quality – Raised With Love.”

All five dogs have been adopted and placed in good homes including the brown cocker spaniel pictured above.  Drew and Londa Wesche adopted two of the dogs including the cocker renaming her Katie. “They are great. We couldn’t have asked for better. I think they are kind of like POWs. They formed this bond in the awful situation they were in, and they can’t not be together.”

  1. I bought a cockapoo from these people in Nov ’09. This makes me so sad and mad. I met the mom pictured above, as well as the poodle dad. I’m glad to hear the mom got adopted to a nice home. On a plus, our puppy is beautiful and healthy and we lover her to pieces! I actually never met “Mary”…she never came downstairs. Her “husband” handled the transaction. The place seemed clean, he was nice.

  2. We purchased our cockapoo Aug. 2010. We met this beautiful brown cocker spaniel and the poodle dad. We love our dog and are appalled that these seemingly nice people were neglecting their dogs. Mary talked alot about not buying from puppy mills! Their place seemed spotless. Horrible. Shame on them!!!!!!!

    1. I also got my wonderful puppy from her in January 2011. I just saw this news when I googled Mary Howard today. I was trying to see how my dogs parents and siblings were, and then I was hit with this news. I’ve always questioned the birth certificate she gave me….there was always a feeling inside that told me it was wrong. But the conditions at the house were spotless and the dogs that I saw were so happy and healthy! If you are interested, I would appreciate it if anyone who purchased a puppy from this mill in CT would like to share information and thoughts. Perhaps let our dogs reconnect?

      1. We also purchased a puppy in 2010, I was unable to go to the house and they were reluctant to sell me the dog without meeting me. We drove by the home when we were in Mystic on vacation. I’m shocked. Our dog is great and receives much love. Happy that the dogs are placed in new homes.

      2. We purchased our Cockapoo Kona from “Mary” and “Michael” in April of 2010. Same story as far as a seemingly clean home, well groomed and taken care of parents (Katie and Danny is what we were told). Would love for Kona to meet-up with a sibling/relative.
