Bath and Trim overdue

I guess Hoshi didn’t get a bath last month. He seriously needed both and I just gave him a bath and trim this morning. I shaved him down completely–even his tuft. His ears were filthy (just the outside). They were black! Well it took a good 2 maybe 3 hours. I tried not to leave patches of uncut hair on him. He looks and smells better now.

Broken glass problem

Broken glass has always been a problem in my neighborhood. It’s even in the playgrounds. Walking Hoshi in my neighborhood is like walking through a minefield. Today was the last straw. Hoshi walked right into a pile of broken glass (a beer bottle) during our walk. I got my leaf blower and got on my bike and went through the neighborhood clearing glass off the sidewalks. My neighbors probably thought I was crazy. It’s a shame they don’t care enough to do it themselves. Later, I took Hoshi for a walk around the block around 5pm. It was nice walking him without worrying about in stepping in glass. This is the 2nd time I’ve done this in my neighborhood.

We chased another skunk

Maybe it was the same one. It was about a mile away from where we saw the other one. It had just crossed a major road. They don’t run too fast. I was careful not to get close. Hoshi was going nuts. It smelled skunky too. I think these are good bonding moments for me and Hoshi. We’re still not as close as me and Gabby were.

me and Hoshi chased a skunk

I saw something up ahead crossing the road. It was low to the ground and slinking. We chased it to the other side. I saw the long black and white striped tail as it ducked under a neighbor’s fence. It lifted up its tail too before taking off. Hoshi didn’t like it and barked. The neighbor has two labs. I hope they don’t go out.

Bath and groom

I gave Hoshi a bath early this morning. He needed one and I contemplated shaving him down because of skin problems. That fungal infection on his back went away then came back because I think it’s in his skirt too. Anyways, I decided too keep some length so I found an old clipper with grooming attachments. I was pleased how the legs came out. Fairly even. I did have some trouble with his front legs because of mats. The attachment would get stuck. I’m going to order some grooming attachments for my Oster.
