Ear and diarrhoea issues (maybe linked)

Looking for advice.
My cocker is now about 6 years old. He has never had a great stomach but intermittently he has bouts of diarrhoea and the vet suggested it was linked to an ear infection.
Every medication from vet was pretty useless, I’m using ear powder now which seems to do a much better job, but I know from the way he behaves that’s it’s not rectified.
More and more often he has bouts of diarrhoea. I used to feed him chappie which he was good with but after things got bad the vet suggested a more sensitive food. We switched to purina sensitive (always dry) but I’m tempted to switch back.

Anyway, vet doesn’t seem to have any answers other than buy this from us or buy that and try it. So can any experts on here help?
The ears look like a common issue but I haven’t seen anything combined.

Thanks
Eddie.

Hello Eddie. Your vet would have a better understanding what's happening. I'm not familiar with diarrhea cause by an inner ear infection. I would follow the vets plan of using easily digestible food until his symptoms improve. Afterwards you can return to his regular food or look for another that's more agreeable for him.

Thanks. Trouble either that however is that the vets has so far prescribed 5 different ear medications and I think I’m just being used as a cash cow. I think I picked up on here a while ago about Thornit ear powder, this helped the ears more than any of the meds, though he does still shake his head a fair bit.
