Chewing & Licking

Hi all,

I have never had an issue like this with any of my cockers. Maya licks the floor, the elevator door and walls, the ground she sits on, the dividing line on the road, tries to pick up rocks that are embedded in the road. This all is in addition to the usual coffee table or sofa legs. I know she's a puppy and wants to play but her nose is on the ground for the entire walk! Picks up rocks, sticks, papers, leaves.....her new name is "Maya NO"
How do I get her to stop?

I know lots here will have some ideas for you! I just wanted to say welcome to puppyhood! I have had mostly adult rescues, my youngest was 6 mos old when I got him. The joys of a baby!^_^

You need to teach Maya the "Leave It" command. I highly, highly, highly recommend purchasing Patricia McConnell'sw book "Family Dog Training" as a starting point. She covers the basics, as well as covering how to teach your dog good manners. It can be purchased through Amazon, or you can get it right from her site at http://www.patriciamcconnell.com
