I've never mentioned before but be careful of constipation using a raw diet. Hoshi's stools can be pretty dry (almost powder sometimes). Make sure they drink plenty of water. Make sure they're pottied often and give them plenty of exercise.

Wanting to change my big boys food to something healthier and better for his weight. He is 10 pounds over weight and even though the vet said hes ok still wanting to change. Any ideas on whats good?

I know it's not easy rescuing period--time and money and all. All things considered, what do you feed your rescues? Does your feed vary on your rescue funds?
I'm going to try him on puppy stew only and see if that helps his poor ears. I've tried grain free and fish and sweet potato both commercial foods and the grain free was better but was so rich he wouldn't stop having diarrhea. With the fish his ears were worse. so cross your fingers as I've got...
