Our little Cocker Spaniel buddy Beau is 10 yrs. old. We would like to have a puppy that he sired. We live in Texas, and would like to breed him with a female cocker that is close by and then keep one of the pups.
Prior to this I suggest testing Beau for hip dysplasia and hereditary cataracts. The American Kennel Club recommends the above for American cocker spaniels. For more information contact the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals.
Is Beau a conformation champion, obedience, or agility champion? Have you done the testing Manuel recommended and have his eyes checked clear? How are his hips? If not I suggest that you look for a reputable breeder or perhaps a rescue.
